| Darrell grew up as an
Army kid, was in the US Air Force and has 17 years experience in Law
Enforcement. He was elected Mayor in November, 2006. He was sworn in
January, 2007. In April, 2007, when the council refused to follow the city
charter, he resigned. Despite the rumors, he did not quit under council
threat. (Although they did threaten him). He quit because he realized that
if he was really going to live up to his campaign ideals, he would not be
able to do it sitting as Mayor. Angela always tells him he can’t complain
if he isn’t involved. Besides, she told him she thought being Mayor would
be fun. A distraction if you will. Boy, was it fun. He has MS, so sometimes has issues with that. If you need to meet with him, please keep that in mind. If you need him to do something for you, write him a note. Forgetfulness is one of his side effects. Angela is entering her 20th year as an administrative professional. Her background includes extensive insurance and risk assessment, architectural, engineering and database management. She started programming when she was 13, so computers have been a staple in her experience. Currently, she works in a manufacturing environment creating policies, procedures, training manuals and data control. She hopes, now that the kids are older, to finally finish the administrative professional certification she started years ago. We both are registered as non-partisan. There are two reasons for this. One – Our philosophy’s run a little to the left and a little to the right. It also cuts way back on the number of political advertising we receive. We believe that as citizens, you should have access to the same information that legislators, including the city councilors, do. If they are making a decision that impacts you, you should know what information they used to make that decision. We believe you should have access to the knowledge of where your money goes. All of it. Not just the accounting that the city is providing. We believe they should account for every dime in and every penny out. We believe in the core value of being a public servant. We have served others with that belief. We just wish that the city did too. |
